Choral Evensong for 140th Anniversary of the Cathedral’s Consecration

On Saturday 6 August , Choral Evensong took place to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the Consecration of the Collegiate Church as Cathedral of the Isles.

The principal guest was the Lord Lieutenant of Ayrshire.  The officiant was Canon Alec Boyd and the preacher was the Right Reverend Dr. Idris Jones. The Right Reverend William Nolan, Roman Catholic Bishop of Galloway was also in attendance.

The Cathedral Choir, directed by Alastair Chisholm with organist Jonathan Cohen, sang music by Charles Wood and William Harris.

Many of the large congregation stayed for the reception following the service.
